Turned objects

The simple beauty of wood

A range of turned objects. In many cases reclaimed oak worktops have been used as a base material.
This provides a rich finish, and is better for the environment than using new woods from freshly-felled trees.

Many of the bowls and platters have been laser-engraved with a variety of designs drawn from Celtic, Arte Nouveau
and Art Deco inspirations. They are hand-coloured with acrylic finishes, and in some cases highlighted with precious metal leaf.
Others are left simpler, but enhanced with decorative mouldings to add to their beauty.
Finally, there are others that are left entirely as they are to allow appreciation of the natural beauty of the wood.

Turned objects are finished with a shellac- or cellulose-based seal, then waxed and polished to bring out the natural sheen of the wood.
